Dr Pieter Hurter
Dr Hurter is an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with an interest in treating adults with complex mental health needs.
He completed his undergraduate medical studies in South Africa in 2000, and after working in rural medicine he pursued training as a psychiatrist, obtaining fellowship of the College of Psychiatrists of South Africa in 2007. On moving to Australia, he furthered his studies and gained experience in addiction medicine, various psychotherapeutic approaches, and neuromodulation techniques, obtaining fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) in 2015. Since then, he has worked across a range of both public and private health settings in Australia.
His expertise encompasses general adult psychiatry, with a special interest in treatment of mood disorders including depression and bipolar disorders, OCD, anxiety disorders, adults with ADHD, and the care of people with a combination of mental health and substance-related problems.
